Shiyu (Anna) Hu is a high school student from Shanghai, China, who is genuinely passionate about cross-cultural understanding. During her exchange year in Washington DC in 2015-2016, she founded Trans-Pacific Student Alliance, an online student network to help youth around the world better understand each other’s cultures and perspectives. The network has initiated cross-cultural dialogues for over 200 youth from 12 countries with its video, pen pal and online chat projects. During her time in DC, Anna also worked closely with the partnership branch of YSA as an intern, and stayed connected with multiple YSA projects after returning to China. Outside of her passion in cross-cultural understandings, Anna is also a sports enthusiast, who enjoys volleyball, long-distance running and competitive tennis.
